 

#  John Kovac awarded the 2025 Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research

Harvard Professor of Astronomy and Physics **John Kovac** was just awarded the [2025 Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research](https://harvard.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13f357b8637e4a05e4a5d2845&id=44f6bb293b&e=b15a3318b6) by Harvard FAS Dean Hopi Hoekstra. John received the award for his proposal, "Shedding Light on the Big Bang with a Novel Microwave Resonator." The Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research provides funding for research that, because of its originality and high-risk approach, may not receive funding through traditional channels. The funds are meant to catalyze cutting-edge scientifc reserarch. and Dean Hoekstra said "that makes \[John\] a clear choice to receive this prize." Awardees present their projects and ideas at an annual event with the Harvard community.
