Astronomy 100 Undergraduate Students Observe at Whipple Observatory and Classify Supernovae

This year's Astronomy 100 ("Observational Methods") Spring Break trip to Whipple Observatory in Arizona included 13 students, accompanied by Prof. Edo Berger, Teaching Fellow Peter Blanchard, and Astro Lab manager Allyson Bieryla.  The students spent 3 nights observing with the 48-inch and 60-inch telescopes, and collected data on stars, galaxies, exoplanets, supernovae, and quasars.  In addition, the students classified three new supernovae - a record for an Astronomy 100 trip.  For more information see:
