Quantifying our Astrochemical Origins, Karin Oberg

(All day)

Karin Oberg (Univ. of Virginia) will be visiting the CfA on Monday and
Tuesday, February 11-12. She will give the following seminar in Phillips
Auditorium on Monday at 10AM.

Title: Quantifying our Astrochemical Origins

Abstract:
Chemical Imaging and Precision Ice Experiments in the ALMA Era Molecules
are present throughout the Universe in a range of environments. The dense
regions associated with star and planet formation are characterized by a
particularly rich chemistry, due to ice formation on interstellar grains.
These icy grains are intimately linked...

"New Approaches to Discovering Dark Matter," Doug Finbeiner, special seminar

10:10am

Douglas Finkbeiner will give a special seminar for the CfA
community on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 10:00, in the Phillips
Auditorium.  The title of this talk is "New Approaches to Discovering
Dark Matter."

ABSTRACT:

Most of my group's work in recent years has been related to
discovering the nature of dark matter.  Some projects
involve searches for WIMP signals from astrophysical sources or
direct detection experiments.  In other cases, we have studied the
distribution of dust and stars in the Milky... Read more about "New Approaches to Discovering Dark Matter," Doug Finbeiner, special seminar
