Harvard Professor of Astronomy and Physics John Kovac was just awarded the 2025 Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research by Harvard FAS Dean Hopi Hoekstra. John received the award for his proposal, "Shedding Light on the Big Bang with a Novel Microwave Resonator." The Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research provides funding for research that, because of its originality and high-risk approach, may not receive funding through traditional channels. The funds are meant to catalyze cutting-edge scientifc reserarch. and Dean Hoekstra said "that makes [John] a clear choice to receive this prize."  Awardees present their projects and ideas at an annual event with the Harvard community.
