Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

The Astronomy Department congratulates the 2024 PhD students!

Ana Maria Delgado defended her thesis on “Analyzing cosmological-hydrodynamical simulations in light of future optical surveys.” Her advisor was Lars Hernquist.

Michael Foley defended his thesis on “Shock-Turbulence Interactions in Star Formation.” His advisor was Alysssa Goodman. In the Fall, he’ll be the Agriculture and Climate Data Science Postdoctoral Fellow — Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Harvard University.

Zack Murray defended his thesis on “Small Bodies and Large Surveys: What Modern Dynamics can teach us about the Solar System.” His advisor was Matt Holman.

Emily Pass defended her thesis, “Terrestrial Planets in the Mid-to-Late M-Dwarf Context: Insights on the Spindown of Fully Convective Stars and the Rarity of Jupiter Analogs. Her advisor was Dave Charbonneau. In the Fall, she’ll be a Torres Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT.

Andrew Saydjari (Physics) defended his thesis, “Statistical Models of the Spatial, Kinematic, and Chemical Complexity of Dust.” His advisor was Doug Finkbeiner. In the Fall, he’ll be a NASA Hubble Fellow at Princeton.

Magda Siwek defended her thesis on “Signatures of Circumbinary Disk Dynamics in Massive Black Hole Binary Populations.” Her advisor was Lars Hernquist. In the Fall, she’ll be a Junior Fellow with the Simons Society of Fellows at Columbia University.
